This is an urgent message for all ACPPLD members. As you should be aware the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force on 25th May 2018 and this affects how the CSP and ACPPLD contact you. The CSP did email all members 3 times in April urging you to update your email contact preferences, however many people have not yet done this. We have realised last week that the result of this is that more than half of our members are now not receiving any messages and emails from us. There is no other way for us to contact you as we no longer have permission to do so.
Basically only those people who have been onto their CSP online account and updated their preferences to include Learning Disabilities communications will now be receiving ACPPLD messages. If you ignored the CSP emails or did amend your profile but did not tick yes to learning disabilities, you will not receive anything until you amend this.
I cannot emphasis enough how important this is as this means you will not receive any information from ACPPLD, or the links to your newsletters which significantly reduces the benefits you get from paying your membership. We realise that some people may not have been aware of the implications of this when the original emails went out. If your in-box has been unusually quiet of CSP or ACPPLD items over the last month, this probably applies to you.
To rectify this please log in to CSP website, go to ‘Account’, scroll to the bottom and click the link which says email subscriptions. Ensure you tick the boxes for learning disabilities bulletins and topics, and also further down ‘member emails’ then click confirm. This should rectify the problem and you will once again start receiving our communications.
Obviously if any member has actively chosen to opt out of receiving communications from us, that is your choice, but as this reduces your membership benefits we are assuming the majority of you haven’t realised this has occurred.
