Referral, waiting list and caseload management survey for specialist learning disability physiotherapy services

Referral, waiting list and caseload management in learning disability physiotherapy services has been ‘hot topic’ of discussion for many years. Services have always sought to find the right balance between clinical priority; complexity; target time to treatment; waiting list and caseload size; other job roles and responsibilities; and staff wellbeing. Managing these often-competing challenges is complex and there is minimal evidence and guidance available within the literature, leaving clinicians to use their experience and knowledge to navigate this important area of service delivery.

This survey was conducted with the intent to find some of the answers and provide guidance to specialist learning disability physiotherapy services.
